The upcoming G20 summit scheduled for next month is well in focus for the Delhi Police, who have been diligently coordinating with various security agencies and ensuring comprehensive preparedness.

In anticipation of the summit, the police force has taken proactive measures to enhance the skill set of its personnel assigned to the event. A particular emphasis has been placed on refining their soft skills, ensuring that they are equipped to engage effectively with dignitaries, tourists, and members of the media. This is particularly important considering the diverse cultural backgrounds from which people will be arriving.

Suman Nalwa, the spokesperson for the Delhi Police, highlighted the extensive groundwork that has been underway for several months leading up to the G20 summit. The planning process was initiated well in advance and has now entered its final phase, with less than a month remaining. Nalwa underscored the collaborative efforts between Delhi Police and other security agencies, emphasizing their collective commitment to a successful summit.

Nalwa went on to describe the meticulous training that personnel have undergone, including specific duty point assignments. The police’s commando team is primed and ready, with meticulous arrangements established at key locations such as airports, motorcades, accommodations, venues, and travel routes for dignitaries.

In a noteworthy development, 19 women commandos from the Delhi Police have received specialized training as “markswomen,” honing their skills under the tutelage of the Indo Tibetan Border Police Force and Madhya Pradesh authorities.

Additionally, commandos and VIP security personnel from various Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) – including the CRPF, ITBP, BSF, CISF, and SSB – have been summoned to Delhi from different field formations. Their primary mission is to undertake “protocol and protection” duties throughout the G20 Leaders’ Summit, scheduled for September 9-10 at the Bharat Mandapam convention center (formerly Pragati Maidan), as well as other strategic sites.

These specialized units, alongside the Delhi Police, will operate under the centralized command of the Ministry of Home Affairs throughout the G20 proceedings. Their responsibility extends until the culmination of the summit and the departure of all leaders and dignitaries to their respective destinations.
