The maximum temperature is expected to settle around 39 degrees Celsius

Delhi woke up to a warm morning on Tuesday, with the minimum temperature settling at 28.7 degrees Celsius — 2.2 degrees above the seasonal average. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast thunderstorms and rain later in the day, offering some respite from the heat.

Humidity levels were recorded at 67 per cent at 8:30 AM, with the relative humidity expected to fluctuate between 68 and 46 per cent over the course of the day. The maximum temperature is likely to hover around 39 degrees Celsius, slightly lower than Monday’s 40.8 degrees Celsius, which was 0.4 degrees above normal.

Air quality across the national capital Delhi remained in the ‘moderate’ category, with the Air Quality Index (AQI) recorded at 194 at 9 AM, according to data from the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB).

As per CPCB standards, an AQI between 101 and 200 is classified as ‘moderate’, while lower values indicate better air quality: 0–50 is ‘good’ and 51–100 is ‘satisfactory’. Higher readings, however, raise concerns — 201–300 is considered ‘poor’, 301–400 ‘very poor’, and anything above 400 is deemed ‘severe’.
