Delhi Traffic Police is set to mobilise 2,500 personnel to facilitate seamless vehicle flow, with an additional 250 teams dedicated to scrutinizing drunken driving this New Year’s Eve, officials confirmed on Thursday.
SS Yadav, the Special Commissioner of Police (Traffic), highlighted that traffic direction towards Connaught Place will be controlled post 8 pm on Sunday.
Emphasising strategic deployments in anticipated high footfall areas, authorities will regulate traffic correspondingly, aiming to ensure smooth movement, as per police statements.
“To ensure unobstructed vehicular flow, approximately 2,500 traffic personnel will be on duty, alongside 250 teams assigned to prevent drunken driving. Furthermore, roughly 450 motorcycles will be strategically stationed,” said Yadav.
Yadav also emphasised a zero-tolerance approach towards dangerous or stunt driving behaviours, affirming that improperly parked vehicles would be towed. Additionally, police personnel will utilize alcometers to ascertain alcohol levels in individuals, Yadav further added. (With inputs from PTI)
