Authorities have warned of potential traffic disruptions at the Delhi-Noida border on Monday, as farmers are set to stage a tractor march to the national capital.
The planned protest, involving a procession of tractors via the Yamuna Expressway, Luharli toll plaza, and Mahamaya flyover, has prompted Delhi Police to intensify border checks and erect barricades.
Heavy traffic has already been reported at the Chilla border from Delhi towards Noida due to the heightened security measures. Both the Delhi Police and Gautam Buddh Nagar Police are deploying intensive checking and barriers at all border points between Delhi and Noida.
Traffic diversions will be implemented as necessary.
In addition to the impending tractor march, ongoing farmer protests have impacted traffic flow at the Singhu and Tikri border points between Delhi and Haryana. The partial reopening of these border points on Saturday came almost two weeks after they were sealed in response to the farmers’ “Delhi Chalo” march.
The “Delhi Chalo” movement, initiated by farmers from Punjab, aims to pressure the Centre to meet their demands, including a minimum support price (MSP) for crops and farm loan waivers. Despite facing hurdles from security personnel, thousands of farmers have been camping on the Punjab-Haryana border near Ambala, approximately 200 kilometers from Delhi.
