India International Centre, New Delhi, is poised for an enthralling evening of Kathak dance as the gifted Nisha Kesari, a disciple of the esteemed Guru Rani Khanam, takes center stage. The performance, entitled ‘Double Bills,’ is scheduled for February 21, 2024, from 6:00 to 7:00 PM.
The audience will be captivated by Nisha Kesari’s spectacular performances, commencing with Shiv Dhrupad and progressing through a classical Kathak repertoire. She will also treat the audience to Nawab Wajid Ali Shah’s gatnikas, and the show will culminate with a heartfelt Thumri performance.
Accompanying Nisha Kesari will be Guru Rani Khanam on padhant, Nasir Khan on Sarangi, Shuheb Hasan on vocals and harmonium, and tabla by Aman Ali Khan.
Recognised for her rhythmic and flowing movements with robust footwork, Nisha Kesari is a young and prolific exponent of the classical Kathak dance form. Her performances are distinguished by impeccable and subtle yet expressive movements that captivate audiences. Nisha has cherished Kathak from a young age.
At 7, she received formal training from Guru Rani Khanam , and her journey in the realm of Kathak has been extraordinary.
