Women have long served as the pillars of families, communities, and civilisation itself. Their roles encompass not only nurturing children but also driving societal progress. Despite their achievements, independence, and diligence, women often remain humble, preferring to keep their accomplishments grounded in grace and humility. The ‘Naari’ Art Exhibition seeks to honor these values of womanhood through artistic expression.

Art has been intertwined with the essence of femininity, symbolising fertility, beauty, and nature. Great works of art have depicted women as the source of life, portraying their soft yet potent attributes in various practical and spiritual contexts. Drawing inspiration from this rich tradition, the Vankanya Art Group has curated an event centered around the theme of ‘Naari’, exploring the myriad facets of womanhood through art.

The exhibition will provide a platform for artists to showcase their interpretations of femininity, inviting art lovers and connoisseurs to engage with their work. Additionally, a seminar on “Femininity and Feminism in Visual Arts” will kick off the event today, followed by painting workshops on Abstract Art on March 9 and basics of portrait making on March 10.

Furthermore, a discussion on Art Therapy and Mental Health is scheduled for March 10, shedding light on the therapeutic potential of artistic expression.

Dr Gauri Srivastava serves as the curator for the exhibition, selecting artworks that reflect diverse aspects of womanhood. Participating artists include Rajni Kiran Jha, Sumitra Ahlawat, Madhu Dhir, Rimsy Chopra, and many others, whose pieces promise to encapsulate the essence of womanhood in all its complexity and beauty.
