COVID-19 surge: Delhi HC makes wearing of face masks in court premises mandatory for lawyers, staff and litigants

Delhi High Court has made it mandatory for lawyers, staff and litigants to wear face masks at all times in court premises due to surge in COVID-19 cases in national capital

In light of the recent surge in COVID-19 cases in the National Capital Territory (NCT) of Delhi, the Delhi High Court has mandated the use of face masks for lawyers, litigants, and staff members while on court premises.
The court has also advised against large gatherings in common and waiting areas to prevent further spread of the virus.
A circular issued by the high court’s administrative side has instructed all concerned parties, including staff, members of the bar, and litigants, to strictly adhere to COVID-19 protocols and use face masks at all times while in the court’s premises.
The Registrar General, Ravinder Dudeja, has urged all high court officials to ensure that measures to contain the virus are strictly followed.
The Union Health Ministry reported 12,591 new COVID-19 cases in India in a day, the highest number in around eight months, with an active caseload of 65,286.
Meanwhile, Delhi recorded 1,757 new cases and six deaths with a positivity rate of 28.63 on Wednesday, according to the city government’s Health department.
