An exhibition titled ‘Roots of the Soul’ by artist Amit Kumar Das is being held at Gallery 1000A from October 28 to November 30.
The works present in the exhibition feature nature intertwined with the ‘self’. Kumar, whose inspiration comes from trees and different symbols associated with nature, presents his work by scratching paper layer by layer. These works show an attempt to express the structure of nature “in living, in experience and in existence”. He believes that art is not just a form of expression but a connection to the very essence of existence.
Kumar says, “Art, to me, is nothing short of a transcendent outlet for expressing the profound emotions that often elude the confines of language. It’s a language of its own, a gateway to a world where imagination and emotion merge seamlessly. My inspiration has always been the boundless beauty of the natural world, which I believe harbours mysteries that stretch far beyond the cosmos itself.”
