India recorded over 800 new cases of COVID-19 in a single day after a gap of 126 days, taking the total number of cases to 4.46 crore.
The number of active cases increased to 5,389, and the death toll rose to 5,30,799. The data updated at 8 am showed that the country reported four fatalities with Jharkhand and Maharashtra reporting one death each, while two deaths were reconciled by Kerala.
The active cases now comprise only 0.01 per cent of the total infections, and the national COVID-19 recovery rate was recorded at 98.80 per cent. The number of people who have recovered from the disease surged to 4,41,58,161, and the case fatality rate stands at 1.19 per cent.
The ministry’s website reported that 220.64 crore doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been administered under the nationwide vaccination drive.
